Youth Ministry Branding on a Budget: 517 Youth
Project Client: Reamstown Church of God || @517Yth
Project Type: Youth Ministry Logo Design
Lead Designer: Ryan Scully
Great designs need to be incredibly functional. They need to work beyond screens and social graphics and make sense in the everyday, real world side of ministry. 517 Youth of Reamstown Church of God wanted to give their youth group a visual identity that was flexible, recognizable and also practical enough to keep working well into the future.
517 Youth has this weekly flavored lemonade bar that’s designed to bring in students who are mostly unchurched. Because this lemonade bar feels approachable and immediately helps connect with students, we wanted to be sure to incorporate it into the design.
The artwork is playful and bright while the lettering is more mature and current. They also needed their student ministry logo to thrive on hands-on tools like notebooks, pens, and highlighters. This is a church who is intentionally teaching students how to engage the Bible, so simple things like taking notes are apart of their weekly culture. Simple branding should always reinforce whatever the ministry is trying to teach.
Subtle nods to the main church logo are incorporated throughout the student ministry brand. We incorporated the flame from the main church logo design to match the student group logo design. This type of family brand helps bring connection between the student ministry logo and the main church while still giving each ministry group its own personality. Their main church logo is still one of the craziest before and after’s we’ve done!
If you’re planning a youth ministry rebrand on a budget, let this group be a healthy reminder to start with an identity that gives you plenty of room for growth. Let’s schedule a design meeting if we can help.
