Project Type: Main Church & Student Ministry Logo Designs
Lead Designers: Ryan Scully & Josh Whiting
Many youth group logos feel like they’re apart of a different organization entirely. This doesn’t have to be the case if you build with a church brand family in mind. Building a cohesive church brand allows the student ministry to keep its personality while still being connected to the main church. By designing this way, each group is able to reach their target audience most effectively without causing visitors to ask if this is the same church. Don’t miss some of our FAVORITE doodles ever towards the end.
West End Church had recently gone through a church name change and wanted branding to reflect that. The initials W.E. began to frame every part of their church culture. “WE are for our neighbors. WE are for the next generation. WE are a place where no perfect people are allowed.”
They’re located on the far west end of DeSoto County, and so we drew inspiration from things like southern BBQ joints and local charm while still keeping things polished. By creating multiple church logo variations, the church is able to use the artwork across all platforms.
Connecting the youth group artwork to the main church happens through shared design elements. For West End Church, it’s things like calm, blues and green colors, shared fonts and a few design details that give a family resemblance. You can tell these two groups share logo design DNA without a doubt.
A youth group design doesn’t have to copy the main church to feel connected to it. Once a design baseline was established, we were able to give the youth ministry a few signature details that are full of youthfulness. We had so much fun creating a few extra, epic illustrations along the way.
This student group is full of inside jokes and has a wholesome backwoods vibe. We’re talkin’ church gatherings with four-wheelers in the field and even a (possibly) imaginary groundhog that lives on the church property. There are very few churches who would appreciate the chainsaw doodle or magical groundhog approach, but this is where good design ideas turn into intentional greatness that they can use for years to come!
This matching church brand family, or community brand, expresses pride in where West End Church is rooted. WE love it and what this local ministry represents. Anyone is welcome, as long as you’re not perfect. If WE can help build your church brand family, let’s grab a four-wheeler and ride.
