Case Study: Saint City Chapel
Client Name: Saint City Chapel | @saintcitychapel
Project Type: Logo Bundle | Family Brand
Lead Designer: Ryan Scully
Saint City Chapel is a church plant in Tempe, Arizona focused on reaching both the city and nearby college campus “for the fame of Jesus.” It launched in 2025 as a result of the growth of the well-established college ministry at Arizona State University called the Salt Company. The church plant created an extension of their discipleship pipeline that expanded beyond the campus into the city.
“We had no idea the process would be so helpful in clarifying so much of our identity, but it came to life in a great way.”
Brandon DeLage, Lead Pastor at Saint City Chapel
For the main church plant logo design, they wanted something strong and masculine with a sense of adventure. We got to play around with this old world story vibe and landed on a design that’s clean and full of grit.
It’s bold and timeless with a bit of tattoo grudge sprinkled on top. The campus Saint City Chapel is connected to is Arizona State University, which has an iconic palm walk strip that we knew we wanted to capture in the brand.
Saint City Chapel is a great example of a strong branded family. Each ministry acts like a different member of the family with its own personality, role and voice. When you step back to see them together, they clearly have the same shared, logo DNA. While the parent, main church logo leaned more edgy, the kids ministry logo was playful and cozy.
“This was a different style project for me...It’s like an old-money beach casino and a metal core band had a baby. I love it!”
The college ministry logo idea took a rowdy direction full of old-English typography to keep things loud and high energy. Each design is distinct, but clearly connected in spirit and story. This campus ministry belongs to a larger network of churches and college outreach all over the country that reaches nearly 12,000 college students weekly.
You may be wondering: Should my church ministry logos match?
