What does a Baptist church logo design look like when tradition and modern branding collide? We got to experience this first hand whenever Buck Run Baptist Church reached out for their church logo redesign.
This Baptist church has been faithfully serving generations for more than 200 years. What began as a small congregation of a hundred people has grown into a thriving church family of nearly 700+ each week. Fueled largely by young families, the church was ready to enter into a season of refreshed branding.
“We had an incredible experience with Bright Coal! After years of scattershot branding, we now have a versatile and consistent Brand Kit that we absolutely love. They patiently worked through our preferences, tested ideas, adjusted to our quirks, and produced something we loved. We would highly recommend Bright Coal to anyone who needs branding help.”
Their previous church logo carried numerous symbolic meanings and had become more complex over time. The challenge was to simplify a visual identity that honored the church’s rich history while still positioning it for continued growth. We drew inspiration for the primary brand mark from the church’s actual roofline. Sometimes the greatest logo design inspiration comes from your physical landmarks. We wanted a sturdy and southern design idea that highlighted the church values of being commitment to Biblical truth.
From there, outdoorsy design influences helped capture the tension between the church's rural character and its setting within a growing, urban capital city. This modern Baptist church logo design has clean lines, is intentionally simplistic and grounded in the values of their church.
After great feedback on their main church logo redesign, we were able to dream up their kid’s ministry logo, as well. Should your children’s ministry logo match the main church logo? We’ve covered this topic at length here if you’re interested. For this Baptist church children’s ministry logo design, it was a no brainer to combine similar design elements so it fit under the main church brand.
The best church logo designs are rooted in more than aesthetics. Whether you’re considering a Baptist church rebrand, developing a brand new logo, or refreshing the visual toolkit of your ministry, be sure the designs are doing more than looking cool. You want ministry brand tools that tell your why as a church. If we can help, let’s jump on a phone call together.
