A Fresh Start for Forest Hills Baptist Church
Project Details: Main Church Logo Design

Designing a main church logo isn’t always easy. It can feel frustrating when you know what you want but each iteration continues to fall short and you just can’t explain why. It’s even more exhausting to consider starting over from square one. Forest Hills Baptist Church came to us after years of logo designs that left them still searching.
We were so inspired by their resilience to stay the course. They showed up with tons of ideas and hope for a future design outcome that would suit their vision. They committed to mood meeting homework and completed all the prep work, but the new church design was needing to be rolled out in a time crunch. Their faithfulness to the task at hand was incredibly appealing to witness firsthand throughout the design process.
From our live design meetings, we worked through different symbols associated with church logo designs. Bibles, crosses, candles and more were interchanged until we had a clearer idea.
“We were in a rush to get our main church logo completely redesigned and in a season of stress trying to land it. We’d been through 3+ years of this. At the first look we were BLOWN away! Bright Coal clearly know their process and trust in it.”
Forest Hills offers two types of worship experiences and serves a diverse church audience. The logo needed to fit both a traditional, Baptist church, as well as a more contemporary church logo idea. They’re strategically located in the Nashville area and wanted to communicated a homey logo design that would draw groups in while encouraging them to be sent out.
The rich green and navy logo design colors help anchor the overall church color palette. The serif, Adobe typeface gives this a naturally more elegant feeling without being rigid. Weaving their core values into the main logo mark was an “aha” moment that brought great confidence.
This is a church who cares deeply for their community and values their legacy so much they’re willing to steward these design processes as many times as it takes. As much as we enjoyed landing the design process plane with them, it was an even greater privilege to step in and bring extra confidence back to their identity. Church logo projects like this one encourage us, as well. Shoutout to Forest Hills Baptist Church for reminding us why we love what we do!
