Bright Coal Creative exists to pave a clear path between students and real change, using art.

In student ministry marketing, there are 2 ditches on either side of the road. It's critical to stay out of both.

On one side, we have incredibly bad creative. To frame it differently, a distractingly poor presentation of this amazing truth we have to offer. When we do this, we're literally creating an obstacle for kids to climb over before they get "the goods".

In the other ditch, lies all of the youth pastors who lost their way in the name of relevance. It's hard to spot when you're in it, but when "relevance" and popularity are in the driver seat, the life-changing Word gets watered down.

Both stand in between students hearing the message of hope, love, and truth their hearts crave.

Hi, I'm Josh Whiting and I'm based out of Augusta, GA. I've been in youth ministry (as a volunteer, on staff, in worship team, leading the worship team, as a designer, as landscaper, as a small group leader) since I was 13. During that time, I've come face-to-face with the struggles, needs, and aching desires of quite a few student pastors and youth leaders.

My "day job" during the last decade has been in digital advertising. I love what I do. Approaching every day and every project with a new set of challenges to be solved with creative keeps me up at night and gets me out of bed in the morning. If you're interested in any "credentials" and accolades, I can provide those, but the moral of this story is simple: I know creative and student ministry very well.

You should also be aware that I'm asbolutely head-over-heels for my wife (Danielle) and son (Bear). While I love design and students, they come first.
